Bought a 200GB Seagate Barracuda 7200rpm and worked great for about a week and all of a sudden it is not being recognized. It's not being recognized in the BIOS either. Plz help I spent a good amount of money on it and have lots of stuff that I would prefer not to lose. :(

First thing is to ensure that all connections, power and data cables are connected securely into the drive, even try unplugging and re-plugging in all the cables assosiated with the drive, ie, the IDE/SATA cable attached to the motherboard, and the SATA/IDE cable on the hard drive, and the power cable connected to the hard drive.

OK. Securely fastened all connections and now when I boot up it freezes at the MOBO title screen and the hard drive keeps making a "click" sound every 2-3 seconds.

Is this the primary drive in the machine or a second drive you added? How is/are the drive/drivers jumpered? Have you tried a different IDE cable (assuming it's not SATA)?

Happen to have another computer you could try the drive in? Slave it in a friends computer perhaps?

I have that same harddrive in my HP and it has failed on me twice. The first replacement that HP sent me failed when it was only 24hrs old. Sounds like yours has failed as well, take it back and have it replaced.

the hard drive keeps making a "click" sound every 2-3 seconds.

That's a failed drive. It happens, hard drives are mechanical devices and are not 100% perfect. That's what warranties are for, and Seagate is pretty generous with their 5 year warranty. Sorry about your data loss, but that's why you should always do backups onto some other media if you have stuff that you don't want to possibly lose.
