wow i need help

So i'm so amazing that i spilled ice tea all over my laptop (yeah i know great job) let it dry for two days ten tried booting. the fan comes on but it dies shortly there after. the hard drive is on the left of the computer and when i spilled ice tea it was on the right. any chance that my HD is still alive? if so is there any way that i can either a) get all my stuff off of it to save b) complete erase it and make sure no one else can get to my stuff. I backed up my HD but it was a few months ago and there are many files i lost. Any help.....if there is any.....would be great thanks in advance

chances are you shorted out the motherboard when you spilled the iced tea on it, your hard drive MIGHT be ok, why don't you try pulling it out and slaving it on another computer, you will be able to recover files that way.

I should also mention if you choose to do this you will need a kit to convert the IDE so that it can hook up to a desktop. They are cheap and available at any computer store.

Have you tried pulling the laptop apart and cleaning the goop out of it?? That might fix your problem, although generally this should be done straight away. Iced tea is sugary, so I wouldn't hold your breath though

thanks for the suggestions i'm going to try and buy one of those convertors i called best buy to see if they could do it and they want $90 for 5GB worth of storage IF they can get the harddrive working. i'll just try the convertor though i know what i'm doing and if i can't it to work i don't think they will be able to either. Have my fingers crossed that this works so hoping. thanks again everyone
