Fanless CPU cooling with fans?

I'm looking to replace my original P4 Fan with something good, I was wondering if you could take a fanless heatsink, and install fans on it for super high performance, or if it's just best to stick to normal CPU fans.

You can install 2x 6cm fans on to the face of the heatsink. Would this prove better than a eg. Coolermaster Jet? (its around the same price)

Are you trying to reduce the noise from the computer? If you are, take a lot at the Zalman heatsinks.Take a look at this:

(its around the same price)I haven't heard anything about that particular heatsink, but I know the CoolerMaster Jet heatsinks are all looks but perform pretty terribly. The stock heatsink probably does a better job.

Whats the best all-in-one heatsink & fan package?

I'm not looking to reduce noise, just get the best value performance I can. I don't want to spend $70-80 on a fan that performs 5% better than one at $30, i'd rather get the $30 one if you know what I mean.

The best value is to get the retail P4 and use the stock Intel heatsink.

Well thats what I did except I got an OEM Processor and then bought an original heatsink & Fan, its stupid but it's actually cheaper that way, saved about $35

Are you still in need of a heatsink/fan for your P4? If you're looking for really good performance, look at the Thermalright heatsinks. And look at the Zalman heatsinks. I've never cared much for the Thermaltake heatsinks.

OK- the post has kind of gone off topic here, but what kind of fan will mount onto a thermalright heatsink? I know they're good but they're also expensive, and if I have to mount an expensive fan on top as well, it's just gonna add up too much
