Standard Intel skt 478 cooler; replaceable fan?

Can the fan on the standard intel socket 478 cooler be changed? I was thinking of a Delta fan to boost it's cooling power.

If it can is it a 60mm or 80mm fan, or some weird size? Cheers

if you mean the fan on the stock intel heatsink, im not really sure, that fan seems to be intergrated onto the black frame that clips onto the H/S, I dont think you can easily interchange them. you would have to do some modding to get another fan to fit. If thats the case, you might as well get another heatsink and fan solution for the CPU. look for something by zalman or thermaltake.

i have heard that the coolers speeze makes are very good replacements for the stock cooler and they are pretty inexpensive

You can get the fan out according to an article on intel.com. I'll just have to open the case & find out. Thanks anyway

Ok well I had a look, I don't think I can cos its a weird shape and its 72mm across so it's also a weird size. Ah well

IMO, to save some time, headaches, and possibly some money, if you want better cooling, you might as well get a whole new heatsink + fan from a good company like zalman, vantec, thernalright, thermaltake, etc.

It wasn't that hard to find out that the fan's a strange size. And it's not going to save me any money getting a new heatsink AND fan than just getting a new fan. Also, I'll have to pay at least $40-$60 to get any heatsink/fan substantially better than the boxed Socket 478 heatsink...
