would this work with a socket 939 amd athlon 3800+ http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16835112006 also could i put a panaflo on it.
or is there something better than this

Just curious, but what was / is your original configuration? Meaning, did you get a Retail 3800+ ? or OEM? If you got the retail version, it has a 3 year warrantee which would be technically voided with the use of an aftermarked heatsink / fan combo.

Your sig says you're going with water cooling in 2 months...why bother with a new heatsink?

well i was told that a good fan settup is just as good as a water cooling system is this not true?

That's pretty subjective. For folks like me, it's true. I don't OC, I don't live in the middle of the desert, and my computer would not run any different whether I had water cooling or not. So, in that light, it's true. If I wanted to do some extreme OCing, then I'd go with water cooling...

You dont need watercooling for your CPU if your not going to overclock OR you dont care how loud your CPU fan is. Watercooling eliminates the noisy CPU fan.
