Hey all...

I've had Battlefield 2 since it came out.... But I've had no luck playing multiplayer.

Whenever I go to create an account.... It says "the server has refused the connection" --Does anyone know what this means?!

I'm also confused with what KIND of account you need to play online. Someone said you need a Gamespy/Fileplanet account... I've got one of those... and I've registered my copy with EA. My friend tried creating an account for me... But whenever I go into the game... I can't log in anywhere... It just wants me to create a new account...

Sorry for the lack of info.. Im just confused as to how/what I'm supposed to do in order to play BF 2 online... I've read the manual... that didn't help... I've gone on their website.... no help there either.... So any suggestions?!

if you have a gamespy account, just try to click on retrieve account and enter your nickname and password. that should do it

This is what I've done so far to try and fix the problem...

- Reinstalled BF 2
- Shut down the windows firewall (Im behind a D-Link Router.... and I think I opened the right port for BF 2?!)
- Registerred the game with EA
- Registerred a new Gamespy account...
- Used a friends account info and tried to "retrieve account info" with no luck..

What else should I try?

Did you register your account on Gamespy's website? Just go into the game and create a new login name when it asks you to log in to play the game. All the options are available in game. Hope this helps.

You probably have done it already, but BF2 wont tell you if a firewall/virus scanner is messin with it, so try shuttin them off.

If you have Norton Internet Security or something like it, check your firewalls and make sure it's letting BF2 connect to the internet.

It should say something like 'we were unable to connect' if it was a problem with his firewall. Since it is saying the conection was rejected it must be getting through somehow.

Perhaps call the EA tech support and see if this is a common isssue, the demo gave me that message a few times but rebooting always fixed it.

One other thought..try reseting you're ADSL/Cable modem and unplugging the power and internet cords for a few minutes.

The demo gave me this problem (I own the retail now) and I was forced to create a new login. After playing on it, the next time I connected it let me use my old name. Try creating a new login, then going back later and trying your old one.
