Hi All:

This might not be the correct forum to ask this question, but I thought I'd give it a shot.

I have an Aiwa stereo system that was given to me less the rear surround sound speakers.

It calls for 8 to 16 Ohms, 20 Watts per speaker.

I have a couple of JVC 3 Ohm, 9 Watt speakers, can I use these speakers temporarily for the rear surround sound without doing any damage to the stereo unit?

Thank ahead of time,

Bill Lane

Put the 3 ohm speakers in series...not parallel onto either the left or right channel. You wont get stereo, but you will get the equivalent of one 6 ohm speaker, Just be careful not to turn your amp up too loud since you dont have much resistance to keep from burning it up.

series is pos to neg to pos to neg....parallel would be connecting all the pos to all the pos and all the neg to all the neg..(dont do this in this situation)...you will be left with a 1.5 ohm speaker which WILL burn up your amp.

Thanks David M,

Looks like I'll have to buy a couple of speakers then to have stereo.

Really appreciate the imput !!
