I hope this is the right place to ask about my case and the video card bracket as well. If you think I'm posting in the wrong place, feel free to move it to some other place.... Heh heh.... :D

I'm not good at explaining, so there's the picture:

ABOVE: This is my case placed horizontally, facing the sideways.... :)

(Of course, I don't know why newer cases need that kind of cover instead of the usual screws that fasten onto the PCI or AGP card once installed...)

http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y158/ngyonghan/cputhing2.jpg
ABOVE: I can put my video card in without any problems.... but.....

http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y158/ngyonghan/cputhing3.jpg
ABOVE: Yeah, that's the problem. The cover won't simply get down. The bracket is way too high....

Any ideas how to properly fit the card in?

Which case, mobo, and video card are you attempting to use? Do your other PCI cards fit properly?

Case - a basic one.
This is the 2nd comp in my signature. All of the PCI cards can fit in except for my NVidia Riva TNT2 M64. The bracket's simply too high. Any idea how to make it fit in? :D

Is the bottom part of the metal plate on the video card falling into the slot in the motherboard tray? If it's not the video card won't sit right in the socket and you won't be able to secure it.

Normally for my case, the metal plate on the bracket is nearly (or almost) touching the m/b tray. That's where I can put down my bracket cover and screw it. Unfortunately, the bracket for my AGP card is simply too high. It can fit into the AGP slot without any problems, but the tall bracket simply hinders the whole plate. I think I want to tell my father who's a welder to shorten this bracket. It that all right? I hope I can show you the photoes.... :)

Are you sure the bottom of the plate isn't hung up on the tray? The tang needs to fit into the small slot in the tray. If the tang doesn't fit in the slot, the top part of the card will be too high and you won't be able to secure it.

The upper plate is not touching at all. Too high, I guess.... Maybe I'll try finding some shorter brackets for that, let me salvage some of my old stuff there.... :D

Edit: Okay! Just fitted this cool antique video card in! I don't know how to explain it (again) but I can give you a few details about how to really fit in the whole thing.

ABOVE: I must tilt the card to make the bottom part of the bracket to slide into the gap between the m/b and the cpu case.... :D

The bottom part of the metal bracket should almost touch the cpu case's base. Before that, the part was hanging around a cm above the m/b....

Anyway, thanks for the help! I appreciate your kindly help very much! Heh heh... :D
