I only played the demo but I used my Microsoft Sidewinder Force Feedback joystick. I take good care of it because they aren't made anymore and I haven't found anything better. You may be able to find one on Ebay.

Anyone try out the saitek x45 joystick and throttle? Or would this be an overkill for a game like Bf2? Also wondering if the throttle and joystick work well with the helicopters?

helicopters are some what easier on the key and mouse... oh gamepads are fun for flying...

this is really confortable, flying is kinda complicated at first but after u get used to it its not too bad. its like flying a banshee in halo...er 2 lol.

just alternative to joysticks, used to have a Thrustmaster Top Gun Fox 2 Pro, gave it to my friend, he plays bf2 with it, very nice easy to control, i was playing on it and i juked a heat seeker with it on a f15. has throttle and u can twist it for ur tail fin. also good for flying helicopters.

I have a Logitech Cordless rumblepad 2, works like a dream in games like farcry and UT2004. However ill probably use the Keyboard if the game is fast, Joypad if its a little relaxed. Ill find out soon, my game is on the way!! :D

Logitech Extreme 3D Pro is what I have, and I like it a lot. Haven't tried it in Battlefield 2 though -- it was all I used in Desert Combat.

Also, I'm not sure, but I heard you can set controls seperatly for helicopter and jet. Not sure if you can set the mosue sensitivity on it. If you can you don't need a joystick unless you are totally sucky.

You can set each separately I believe.

Yes, you can set them seperately. You don't need a joystick because you "suck". It's more fun to fly with a joystick than with a mouse. :)

What, wouldn't be fun is switching in between mouse and joystick
Example:eject, parachute, land and try and kill someone with your joystick

Example:eject, parachute, land and die when switcing inbetween joystick and mouse

I have my joystick set up off to the side so all I have to do is move my hand from the stick to the mouse. No problem at all.

That's what I do too. There was no way in the world I could have competed with the airboys in Desert Combat without arming myself with my joystick. They made mincemeat out of keyboard / mouse users.
