Freeze/Lock-up

Recently I've been having a problem with freeze-up / lock-ups. It doesnt really matter what program i'm using, sometimes it even happens when im not running anything. All of a sudden the screen will just freeze, the keyboard and mouse will become unresponsive, and ctrl-alt-delete will be unaffective. All I can do is restart and wonder when it will happen again. It's becoming pretty commmon unfortunately. Any ideas as to what could be causing this?

Incase needed, my basic setup is:
Athlon 750mhz on Soyo K7VIA
128mb PC133 SDRAM
Voodoo5 5500 AGP
SB Live! X-Gamer

First thing to do is to check that the CPU Fan spins and then also look out the airflow in the box is OK.. You have to open up the case to do this ...

Just today I had a mouse that was causing this exact problem. Try a new one?

It does sound like heat, I have a voodoo 5500 too,I have a slot fan right in front of the card and 2 case fans, in front pulling in, in back blowing out. All the voodoos run hot. Try at least a slot fan see if that helps, I always put one in all the new pcs I build, in the slot right in front of the heatsinks on the card...if that is impossible because of space put it in back of it.
