Hey all, i was just wondering, i have an LCD monitor and i was going to plug it in to my video card (nothing special, Ge-Force 2?) anyways i see that the connection is a different type. Do they make an adaptor? i know they make an LCD to CRT monitor adaptor, but not sure about the other way around. Thanks for the help.

Are you saying that your video card only has a 15 pin VGA jack, and your monitor cable is DVI? Most DVI monitors I've seen also have a standard 15 pin VGA jack, and all you need is a VGA cable (which the monitor should have came with too). What model is your monitor?

you are correct, but i don't have any other cables except the DVI one (i guess it is anyways, it looks different then the old style connector) the monitor is a magnavox, i can't seem to find the model number...i should ask my parents if they have the box for it, they gave it to me cause they bought a bigger one so i have no idea on any specs, i wil try to find out....thanks

If your monitor really has the DVI port only, you need to check whether it's DVI-D or DVI-I.
DVI-I has 5 additional pins (for analog signals for backwards compatibility), 4 of them are located next to the regular pin block. It looks like a cross with a hole in every corner. If that is what you got, you can use a DVI-VGA adapter to connect your monitor to the VGA port.

With DVI-D, there is no way to connect it to VGA. You'd need a new graphics card.
