I am building a new PC this is the first time I have built my own I usually had just purchased an assembled pc in a store. However I wanted to build a good gaming system and I am trying to think from the ground up.On the motherboard I thought I would go with the one that supports pentium 4 3.2 ghz 800 FSB. I was wondering if I should pay any consideration to what memory the board uses. The reason why is I noticed that memory has different speed and I don't know much about that I am a software guy. I want my system be fast as can be. I am looking at two boards right now both have pci express which I need three pci slots. One uses something like ddr2 PC 3200 the other one uses pc 4200. And then I noticed something like ddr2 standard 533 listed here is a link to one of them

can someone help with understanding this and is there anything else I should consider on a board before I order one. I just wanna make sure I consider everything because the motherboard determines so many things. Iw ould appreciate any help tips advice etc. Thanks

Iw ould appreciate any help tips advice etc. ThanksFirst of all, you don't want to use a ECS motherboard...that manufacturer concentrates on low budget motherboards and they aren't the most reliable out there. Look at motherboards from ASUS, ABIT, DFI and INTEL instead.

As far as the RAM goes, if you don't plan to overclock just get value oriented RAM that matches the motherboard/CPU FSB speed. But if you are going to overclock then you'll want premium RAM that is rated faster than motherboard/CPU FSB speed.

I looked at a few Asus but they were kinda high priced

Intel motherboards are high quality.

By the way, there's a good reason Asus boards are expensive - you get what you pay for.
