The Winchester runs cooler than the Venice.

so i should get the non-venice then.
The Venice has better memory management. Don't sweat the heat issues (pun not intended), it will still run plenty cool.

X-bit labs: Venice at the Door (http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/cpu/display/athlon64-venice.html) - a pretty good read that he mysterious "what's new with the Venice Core?" question.

I got a venice core 3000+ just over a month ago, using standard heat sink, no probs whatsoever.
venice also has the SSE3 instruction set, something the winchesters dont.
