Norton Antivirus interferring with BF2

Hey,

Ever since I installed the new BF2 patch, I've been having problems with Norton Antivirus. When I go into the multiplayer menu and update the server list, Norton's Internet Worm Protection pops up and asks me whether I would like to allow or block BF2 from accessing the internet. I say yes, but the odd part is it pops up again almost immediately after I close it out -- this occurs around 6 times until it finally allows BF2 to reload its list. What do I do to fix this? Do I have to close the worm protection -- isn't there something else I can do?

Yes, I do wish to keep Norton since I paid for it and it would be a waste to just toss it out. So I need help for fixing it, not replacing it. Thanks.

It just has a drop down box on the pop up warning window which says permit or block. I googled my predicament and found somebody with a similar problem. His continued popping up excessively as well, yet nobody seemed to have an answer for him besides turning off auto protect and script blocking -- disabling either does nothing, I tried. I believe it's some bug with the new BF2 patch they just released. I'm currently disabling Norton's worm protection within their main control menu (this works), but I'd like to keep that enabled somehow. Thanks.

BF2 patch is more problems than it's worth and was made by a differ company. A new patch made by the DICE ppl is being made now.

NAV 2005 is the problem. I deleted and went to the free version of AGV. The website is www.grisoft.com The updates are free also and it has never missed a virus for me.

I don't mean to sound like a jerk, but I already said no to this.

I used AVG for awhile and ended up going back to NAV because I couldn't figure out how to make AVG delete anything it had found. My father went out and bought this huge bundle of software -- Tax software, etc. which came with NAV, so he expects me to use it. I need help fixing NAV.

If you're keeping Norton's, you're keeping Norton's.
I think the program has the equivalent of a "white list", similar to what you'd see in a spam filter, that you can use to keep it from interfering with chosen programs.
It's not the permit/block thing and Symantec buried it somewhere.
If it's any consolation Norton's has an evil rep at iTunes as well, which is where I think I saw the reference.
I'll see if I can't scout it up.

You're going to have to change the rules, always deny, for the web enabled program in question, BF2. This is a customized set-up.
Just clicking permit won't do it.

Thank you Pam for the help. I have some news though that is going to make everybody mad...I just checked Battlefield's website (something I don't do much at all) and they recently released a statement recalling the Battlefield patch. The problem is it drains system memory (something which I noticed myself, yet thought nothing of it) and they didn't catch it upon release. My problems with NAV only occurred after installing this patch, so I shouldn't have a problem if I reinstall the game -- I'm debating whether to do so or not.
