Hi i am getting a tube of aractic silver 5, could you please give me some advice/guidlines on how to apply it.

Basically you (GENTLY) clean off the processor you're applying it to (Be it CPU or GPU), and the surface of the heatsink. You'd want to use something that would leave no residue whatsoever, like maybe alcohol. Put a pea-sized drop of the thermal paste on your processor, then set the heatsing/fan on top of it. Then you just fasten the cooling unit, and you're pasted.

Application techniques differ depending whether the processor is exposed core or has a heatspreader - and which version of the material you are using. Here's a better link, it lists all the products. Regardless, a pea-sized drop is WAY too much.

Maybe you're right... I never really took the time to look and see how big a pea is... you get the idea though... haha.
