scandisk does not report errors, degrag does and will not finish

scandisk reports no errors but defrag will not finish because of errors, how can you get around this.

Try defragging in safe mode. This could not hurt even if it not the answer.

You have to run scandisk in thorough mode to clear defrag errors.

Actually you might have a hard drive that's developing bad sectors - you need to download the diagnostics from the hard drive manufacturer and run them.
