I was on the way home after a WNBA game but I stopped to check out a local B&N to see how the new Harry Potter book was doing.
It goes without saying that the line went around the block and that ice cream and soda were in evidence (also Poland Spring, parents have to survive as well) .
Let's here it for J.K. Rowling, who knows that any kid will read a book if the book itself is reason enough.
I'll get my copy later, the kids have a right to first choice.

And you weren't standing in any line! Right? ;) :D

I'm not big into Harry Potter anymore, I used to be. But whatever gets people to read is fine with me.

I partially credit my 10 year old sons high school sophomore reading ability to JK Rowling. He has read all her books..except for the new one. :)

I swore I'd never read the books, because they were hyped and I'm stubborn, nor would I see the movies. However, my better half convinced me to read the first, and I've never looked back. I then watched the movie, and enjoyed the books enough to be upset at how slipshod the 3rd movie was compared to the other two. The new director mauled it.

Never read any of the books, and never really had the urge to, however, upon Jag's post that might change:). I am currently hooked onto Tom Clancy's writing. It's hard for me to put one of his books down once I start reading.

I agree on Clancy's ability to keep ya hooked. Potter books are a great change of pace though. Even tho they're geared to the younger crowd, they make for a fun escapism read. I've enjoyed the two I've read and have the first 4 in a set.

If you want to try another one that'll hook ya like Clancy, Flop, pick up anything by Clive Cussler. The man spins a great yarn!

Clive Cussler, the man who created Dirk Pitt... can't go past him
Another few good writers are Frederick Forsyth, Bryan Forbes and Colin Forbes... anyone read the Tweed series?? Brilliant

Sorry for hijacking your thread btw Pam :D
