Its more of an interview with key people with Netscape than a commentary.

That was indeed a pretty interesting read. It's funny to think back that when I first started using the Internet Netscape Navigator is all I knew, both 3.x and then 4.x. I never liked Internet Explorer much from the get go so Netscape is all I used. The concensus pretty much seems to be that Netscape missed a lot of other opportunities by trying to compete with M$ in the browser market -- and doing only that -- instead of pursuing different areas. just goes to show that when you start competing in the software arena in an area where M$ directly can't, you can be extremely successful (e.g. Google and Yahoo).

Frankly, I gave up on Netscape after their merger with AOL and discovered Opera. My parents did use Netscape 7 until recently when they switched to Mozilla Firefox.

As a final point, I agree strongly though with the commentaries that suggested that Netscape brought Internet to the masses, and we can be thankful for that.
