Freezing Solution

Okay... so the last time i was here i was complaining about my computer frequently freezing while playing World of Warcraft, and now other games like Counter Strike: Source. Someone offered the problem to possibly being overheating. I finally decided to install ASUS PC Probe which tells the temperatures of various things including the CPU.
Idle... the CPU is about 35-36 Degrees Celcius...
On the other hand... when I run a game, and then minimize it... the temperature jumps up to about 50 Degrees Celcius to sometimes higher (most likely, because i cannot do anything when the computer freezes except cut the power). My guess is that the CPU is overheating at about 55 degrees... which is quite a jump from being idle.... Could this possibly be why the computer freezes so frequently? If so... can anyone reccommend a good CPU heatsink and fan (im using the stock) at a reasonable price?

Freezing could be a number of things. Your CPU as you mentioned. But it could also be your video card that is overheating, either the GPU or the RAM. Are you overclocking anything?..if so, stop. You may also have an undervoltage problem which means you need a better PSU.

What are your specs? Knowing your specs will help others diagnose the problem.

my specs are in my sig...
next, no i am not overclocking.... if i wanted to i could possibly use AI Booster to do it automatically... also, i could silence the computer with it (basically "underclocking" if that makes sense)...

Also, i noticed that while playing most games, that the picture flashes and somethings go fuzzy sometimes, obviously videocard problems but it didnt seem that was so big as the computer freezing... could b oth of these be related?

In my own personal experience, undervoltage at the video card or overheating can make the computer freeze and cause bizarre images, fuzz, anomalies etc. I'm not an expert, just giving you my own experience.

Better wait for the experts to give you their advice.

How's your case cooling?

Have you tried running the computer with the case sides off and have a small fan blowing into it? If the problem goes away you may have a case cooling issue.

An overheating video card can do what you're describing.
