I just discovered this by accident and have never seen or
heard of it before...... Am I the only person who hasn't ? !
I pressed down on the scroll wheel and a circular symbol
appeared on the screen which allows you to scroll very rapidly
by very slightly moving the body of the mouse.

What is this ? The driver is showing as Microsoft 1999 and the mouse is
from an old discarded PC.
What software is controlling it ? I'd like to slow it down a bit .
Cheers,
Chris.

I have that capability on mine as well. I have XP and a GE mouse(yes, General Electric). Try going to Control Panel then Mouse see what you can find. :)

Most mice since Win2k have an actual use for the middle button for scrolling. Check the advanced settings for your mouse through your control panel. Depending on your manufacturer's drivers (or if your using Microsoft mice, you can update the drivers through the MS website), you will see greater controls - like accelerated scrolling etc.

Thanks to you all.
I downloaded latest Microsoft mouse program which has a greatly expanded range
of controls, which the basic mouse software doesn't have in control panel.
I'll explore it more later.
Chris.
