I have windows 98 on my sytem with aol as my isp.
When I go on to the microsoft explorer I get a warning
that" This program has performed illegal operation and will be shut down."
When I click for the daetails it shows " Iexplore cused an exception 03H
in module CTB HOOS.DLL at 0177:1000d001."
My uestion is, what causes this to happen and can I corrct it?:)

Has this happened recently? Did Explorer ever work with AOL? My guess since AOL is a browser, it corrupted IE.

It happened recently. I had no problems before
with aol and explorer beeing together.
Another thing which forgot to mention , is that
whenever i go to programs>accessories>games>solitaire
I get the same error message "illegal operations"
I deleted the games and re-installed with the 98cd,
but the probles still exist.

Can you open IE offline, as the only thing opened? If you can, there is a repair option and I will report back when I find it, or maybe someone else knows how to get to it.

If you are still having the IE problem I finall found the repair. If you
want to try the repair, without anything else running.
Start - Programs - Accessories - System tools - System information. Click
on tools under System information and IE repair is there.
