As cool as you can, under 50c for the CPU is always good, Above 60c for cpu is getting into danger zone. My cpu runs at 45c with stock Intel fan. P4 3G prescott..

Depends what CPU you have. System should be always under 40 degrees, PWM (if your mobo monitors it) should keep under about 75 degrees, and the CPU should stay (under heavy load) approx. under 55 degrees for an Athlon XP, 65 for an Athlon 64/P4 Northwood and 75 for a P4 Prescott/Extreme Edition.

those measurements are C correct and not farhrenheit I hope ??

Cause my AMD 64 2800 runs at heavy load at approx 50C and 39C at idle.

System is around 31C idle and can go as high as 38C under heavey activity.

The minimum temp for Pentium D is 5C, a number that you most likely won't have to worry about reaching. There's plenty of good info on the processor in the data sheet.

ftp://download.intel.com/design/Pentiumd/datashts/30750601.pdf

Pages 76 and 77 have the tables of min and max temps. It's more confusing than it is on the data sheets of most other processors and its too late in the day for me to think about figuring it out. :) Hope it helps.
