I wish to purchase an external enclosure for a 4" hard drive. All of my hard drives are 4" All that I can find are 2.5" and 3.5". Am I just stupid or what. Never mind. I just need some advice as where to purchase an external enclosure that will fit my 4" HDD. Staples, Tiger Direct anyplace online have 3.5 and 2.5. Even with a hammer I do not think these will fit...............

Thanks

I've never heard of a 4" hard drive. Do you have a link to the one you want to put in an enclosure because I don't think a 4" drive exists. 3.5" is the standard for Desktops and 2.5" is the standard for Laptop hard drives.

right, I am positive that they are 3.5 inches and not 4.0 inches
all computer cases have only 3.5 and 5.25 drive bays.

If you have a 4" hard drive, it would have to be very old. Most definately not worth hooking that up to USB. Heres another person casting their vote for your hard drive being 3.5" (btw hard drives are measured by their shorter side, aka width not length)

The size of the hard drive is determined by the diameter of the platters inside the hard drive, not the width of the hard drive case. You have a 3.5" hard drive.

Correct - I just measured a spare hard drive I have sitting here and the case is exactly 4" across. It's a standard WD Caviar 3.5" hard drive.
