i have scowered the forum and i cant seem to find the answer to my problem. i just installed xp pro onto my 250gb hd, but windows only sees 127gb of it. so i tried to reinstall xp pro and createe two partitions, 100gb on one and 150gb on the other. the problem is that i cant seem to create a second partition. but the system recognizes that i have a 250gb hd. whats the problem, do i need sp1?

no, you need to create 3 partitions, windows can only do 130 gig

you need at least SP1 for it to recognize a drive over a 130gb. then you will see the whole 250gb drive.

create your system drive partition and format it by booting to the cd, once xp pro is installed then go to the disk management utility under admin tools in the control panel, then select the unpartitioned drive space and create a partition then format it to either fat32 or NTFS.
