I just finished building my first computer, once it powers up it runs for about 5 seconds then it shuts down. I was told by a friend that my cpu is overheating (I don't have a cpu fan). Is that the reason or could it be another problem?

specs:
M860 sockect 754 mother board
amd athlon 64 3000
geforce 6200
seagate 80gig SATA
liteon CD-rom
Corsair 1gig ddr

Thanks,

you dont have a heatsink??? thats definitely the problem then...don't run your computer again until you get a heatsink/fan!!! you could burn out your CPU if you continue to try and run it...you could have possibly already burned it out (I doubt it tho)
