I have a budget of up to $1,000, maybe more if necessary and worth it but less if possible...an AMD based system able to run games such as Battlefield 2...I am picking out some components right now but would like for someone to offer recommendations of a complete build if possible and I will post my setup later and would like some comments

Go for an SLI system, and an Athlon 64 3200+ or more.

ok i updated the list and went down to 1 gig for now and i also saw this MOBO that i was interested in and would like some opinions on which board would be better out of the two i am looking at, or any other MOBO recommendations

Asus A8N-SLi is supposed to be fantastic. In order to run SLi you need to run two videocards. Do you plan on getting a second one later or what?? The extra fan/heatsink, and thermal compound are unnecessary because they come with your retail processor...unless you overclock there is no real reason to get a aftermarket HSF.

Keep in mind that you need identical (brand/core) graphics cards in order to put into an SLI. That said, Asus A8N-SLI is very recommendable but expensive.

All of you guys asking for advice in this thread, do not forget to make sure you have a QUALITY power supply of the right specs. That Aspire case may be "PIMP" but its power supply is "p00p". SLI requires a certified power supply, standard PCI-E requires an ATX 2.0 unit with a 24 pin ATX connector and preferably dual +12v rails. AGP builds are more forgiving, all you need is a decent 20 pin ATX 1.x unit. Well, let's not say "require" - but not using the right stuff puts your expensive components in jeopardy. When power supplies fail, they have a tendency to take the motherboard and other components out with it.

BGriff, the motherboard may look nice, and Chaintech supposedly is building decent stuff these days, but that ULi chipset is garbage. NForce is the best way to go for AMD builds.

^^^ Yeah I'm still looking at PSU's, i want to get a good quality one, i was thinking of going with an Antec because they make good PSU's, any other suggestions on what I should go with? I saw in another thread that there is one by XClio that is supposed to be a good one

by the way, that wishlist i posted above is cleared now, i guess its from when i cleared my cookies files...

http://secure.newegg.com/NewVersion/WishList/wishlistCurrent.asp?BundleExist=N i changed the case, taking some advice from a post in the power supply sticky in the general hardware forum, the case comes PCI express ready and 450 watts...i dont really need an SLI ready PSU yet since im not going SLI yet so if this PSU provided in the case would work with what i have then that would be good

Do I need an SLI certified PSU if I am just using one video card for now? or would an ATX 2.0 PSU work that has a connector for PCI express X16? If so then I will just upgrade the PSU whenever I upgrade to 2 graphics cards

A noncertified 2.0 unit is fine if you only use one card. Just don't buy a lousy brand and still go for dual rail, there are a lot of those now that are affordable, such as the XClio.
