I have an Optirite DD0203 burner and the specs say that dvd-r burn at 4x, I burn at a maximum 2x with a dvd-r. my dma is set to ultraDma 2. I was wondering if it could be that I might have a 40 IDE cable instead of a 80 IDE cable hooked up to it.
Just wondering, thanks
I am running a Dell Dimension 2400 if that helps anyone.

Nope.
Are the DVD blanks you have also certified for 4x burning ? Is the DVD burner on its own IDE channel, or is it slaved to the hard drive you're burning from ?
RJ
It wouldn't hurt to try an 80 wire cable. Some burners are UDMA 4 (ATA66) and would require 80 wire to be set to that. UDMA 2 is ATA33.
