When I set the system (in the control panel -> power management) to go to standyby after 1-5 minutes, the computer does as it should and goes on a standby. But if I set it for 20 or more minutes, the computer never goes on standby. The monitor will go off as it should (I have tried with it set to 15, 20 and 25 and it works). I had this problem with an old SuperSocket7 MB and now I have an FIC AD11 and it does the same thing. Also, there are power management settings in the BIOS and in Windows. The ones in the BIOS do not seem to do anything. Which ones should I be using and how do they affect each other? Thanks

Hi,
Is there maybe some option in the bios that keeps the system of going into standby after 20 minutes, (like a similar standby option in the bios that is set for less than 20 min, or maybe something similar)? HTH

I think the BIOS is set to go on standby after 5 or 10 minutes. But it doesn't seem to do anything. It is odd that settings less than the BIOS setting works and settings great than that do not. Maybe I should look in to disabling the BIOS settings or making them very long. Thanks.

I personally do this as part of my shut down & power managemment .
During boot up , press Delete & in the Power Management page , make
sure it is set to Disable .
During install , no screensavers are selected . To remove , there
are many ways . One is to Open up Control Panel , select Add/Remove
Programs & click on Windows Setup . Go down to Accessories & click
on details . Untick Screensavers .
While Control Panel is open , click on System , then Device Manager .
Click on the + next to System devices ( down the bottom ) & if
Power Management ( or a similar name ) is there , delete it .
I then setup Power Management ( In Control Panel ) the way I like it ,
( set the screen to shut 1st & the power later ) I never have any
problems . John .
