I have 2 e.SATA/USB2 3.5inch external cases, and I was wondering if anyone has tried to connect a DVD burner to one of these b4 or if anyone thinks I should not try this out on my own because I might damage one of the said components. Reason i want to do this is because I rarely use my DVD burner and would like to have it ext. However, I would not like to take the hit of variable USB2 speed. I once tried a DVD burner on USB2 and wasn't able to burn at 8X. Thx in advance.

A DVD burner is not going to fit in a 3.5" case, they are 5.25" devices.

First of all, thanks for the reply glc. :D hehehe i suppose i should have cleared that up. Yes i know it wont fit in there however that doesnt mean i cant use the connections on the driver for whenever i need to burn. Doesn't matter if the drive doesn't obviouly fit in there i can keep it out of the case and just lay it down somewhat on top of my case while i burn. Aside from this my question remains the same as in my first post. Hope some of you have tried this b4 otherwise i'll just try it out myself and inform here how it goes.

I don't know about DVD's, but I've burned CD's at 48x on USB2.
