Abit Be6 or Be6 2.0 and 533 FC-PGA @ 800

Does anyone know if the Abit be6 series motherboards will work with a celeron overclocked at 800 (533 FC-PGA), the board manuals say they will only support a 500mhz celeron, but PCGamer and a couple of other sources say that it will work, does anyone know if their right, and if it does can i expect the speed errors at boot up and ram problems or any other side effects?

Also does anyone have any suggestion on any mobo, jumperless preferably, that you believe may work better? thanx

From what I understand, the latest bios updates for these boards allow that speed and more.

My personal opinion? I'm going to get the ASUS CUBX mobo when money allows. It's got the softmenu to set bus speeds and voltages and such in the bios setup.
I'll also most likely get a Celeron 2 600 or 633.

I hope that it will work.... I have an Abit BE6-II Rev2 mobo and a Celeron II 533 on their way... Been looking at alot of boards to put together a new system to try my hand at overclocking... The BE6-II seems like the best bet, also was highly recomended by some of the PC Mech members.... Check the Abit site, the Rev 2 boards support Celeron up to 533..... I'll be sure and let everyone know if my "Celeron Will Fly".... Riesz

Tiretool got in ahead of me... I looked at the CUBX also, but there seems to be a problem with running the Celerons on them...
Check the Asus site.. they have a message board and there is alot of bitching about these boards... Everyone is looking for a BIOS update to straighten out the problem..

Asus has the new bios out for CUBX and several other boards. They'll now support the high multipliers the celery2 requires.

The version 6 cubx bios was just revised and posted TODAY. You can find it HERE (http://www.asuscom.de/de/support/techmain/bios/bioslink.htm).

The new CUBX bios handles the high multipliers, but there still seems to be an issue with core voltage for the celery II. They also still haven't gotten a decent Win2K driver from CMD for the Ultra 66 controller.
