Hey everybody,
This is kinda stupid, but......Im currently shopping for a used car(my first car, YAY :D ). Im just checking out all the different models and stuff, trying to see what i like so i know what to look for at the local dealerships. Anyhow, Im trying to remember this site for used cars that used to advertise all the time on TV. There commercials were always the ones where somebody would be standing in just white space, then they'd yell "I need a car". Then all kinds of cars would come shooting out of nowhere on racks. Then theyd yell out exacly what kind of vehicle the wanted, the car would be found and drop in front of them.
I can remember the commercial exaclty but i cant remember the site. Ive thought and thought but i just cant remember   . Anybody know of the one im talking about.
Thanx. :)

Cars.com (www.cars.com) has a good selection of used cars. MSN Autos (http://autos.msn.com) also has a decent selection.

FYI->I bought a new 99 Maxima and traded it in on a 2003 Maxima. Had a combined total of 90,000 miles on both. Never had to spent a dime on either car. Traded the 03 in on a 2005 Xterra three days ago.
Might want to check out www.kbb.com (Kelly blue book) to get info...

Nissan makes very good cars from what i hear. I too am first car shopping....and as much as i want a street car good for upgrades (honda civic/prelude/acura integra, etc) i really need to think practical first...which is why nissan and mazda were recommended by people here. Both are somewhat of street cars, in fact alot of people race sentra, altima, maxima, but both are supposed to be very reliable. If you just got ur license, insurance is a big issue...look at something that wont cost alot to insure. Autotrader is a good place to start though, u can really browse a HUGE selection and u can specify how far from your house you are willing to go.

Yea ive been there. Helps ensure me that i wont get ripped off :o .
Yea some of those Maxima SE ive been looking at have well over 200hp :D . My parents cut me a deal, they're paying for half of it, and ill pick up the rest. As for insurance, my parents surely will not let me get one that costs a bundle to insure, they told me they'd pay the insurance until i got a ticket, accident, DUI, ect., then id be all on me :o . And that means i probly wouldn't be driving cause after you get one of those, insurance is way more than i could afford. They just wanta get me a car that will last me through college and wont be in the shop all the time.

Cor AMD, sounds like a good rap... if only my parents could afford to do that, I'd be driving 10km/h below the speed limit to keep that sweet deal going

Yea, it will defenitly keep me outa trouble. :o
They said that the only way i could pay for my own insurance during the school year was to work. I do get a job during the summer, but they said that during the school year, my job is to go to school, get good grades, and be involved in school. So as long as i do my job, they'll stick to the deal.
One of the guys my dad works with has a son thats in college now, and he doesn't have a car. Last spring when he was a senior in high school he and his buddies went on a camping trip and he got a DUI.(he was on the same deal as i am with his parents) His insurance shot through the roof. His parents said sorry, were not paying it. So he cant afford it, and now he's in college and still doesn't have a car.

One tip alot of people have given me is to stay enough within reason of the speed limit. going 5mph over wont be a problem in most cases...IF anything happens, you should always argue against your ticket. Usually police radar guns are wrong, and if the cop who pulled you over doesnt show up for the court date (often times this is the case) you get off the hook. If you just argue it usualy you can get a lesser tickets...as i said radar guns aren't as accurate as you might think.

Hahaha, speaking of cops... I just noticed that the tabs on my car expired 10 months ago. I've been driving around with expired tabs since October 2004! Now I have to renew them for two months then renew them again! Oops :o

I don't agree with that at all.... own up to what you did... if you were speeding and got caught... you got caught... pay your dues like you should.

Funny this should come up. I just got caught doing 88 in a 55. I am trying to find out the last time the radar gun was calibrated, and hope that it wasn't done according to what Stalker, the manufacturer, says. But, I will hope that he doesn't show up. I don't mind paying the $325 but the insurance... Put me right into place.
Don't speed, its not worth it.

i didn't mean it that way. if you saw how fast you were going, and it was correct, by all means you SHOULD pay for it. What i meant was that IF these guns arent always right and you didnt think you were going that fast, why not try to get a less harsh penalty?

That's reasonable.
