no, i didnt glue my fingers together

my case has a little front door type thing on a hinge that opens for front USB access. The little clip that holds the thing up broke off, so i bought some super glue today...worked great, put the cap back on the super glue...went to play some halo 2.

I came back and after being at the computer for a while i looked over and noticed a big puddle under the tube of super glue. Imediately seeing what happened i *tried* to wipe it up and picked up the tube--which took up a little bit of the surface of my desk. This wasnt the biggest problem, the glue being wiped off spread it around to some places. I now have the outline of the puddle of super glue, a bare wood spot (the surface of my desk is grey) and smears of the glue....In total about 8 sq. inch of damage.

Now if this had been my old desk....i could have cared less. the thing was small and beat up....But i just finished assembling this one last night, and it took a LONG time to build the 3 different components i got. Its also a really big "L" shape desk so even the main part took a while.

I checked out the back of the stuff. Made by a company that does all kinds of different high-tech polymers....But why would any company who makes such potent stuff put it in a tube that LEAKS?? It didnt even leak out around the cap or anything...it was right out of the side of the thing...Ughh

Sorry to hear that, you shouldnt have rubbed it though, you could have looked up online on how to get super glue off tables and stuff, and been left with no damage, or very little damage compared to the damage to your desk. Well I hope you can get it fixed. To answer your question, I dontknow why the company wouldnt make a stronger case for the glue, maybe it was a one time faulty?

I heard once where a guy used it to glue on a temporary crown/cap that came off one week-end. His mouth became infected and the dentist threw a fit Monday morning.

Actually Sarge.. probably not because of the superglue, but rather something that was in there when the guy glued it in place. Super glue is actually being used in some surgery to close up the incisions. A neighbour where I grew up actually had his chest super glued after open heart surgery and the scar is MUCH finer than stitches/staples.

I accidently cut my cat pretty good once trying to cut a matt outta his fur... he jumped and got clipped.. the vet super glued it shut.

idk will those tips help if the glue is already dried? I kinda freaked when i saw what happened and just grabbed a towel to get it off...stupid i know

Acetone works quite well for removal, but if you have a hobby shop near by, they may carry a solvent for super glues.... I used to keep some near by when I built RC Airplanes... had to unglue myself from the plane a few times.

yea models are tough. im going to the radioshack in the mall soon, there is an allied hobbies right next to it. ill stop in there. if they have nothing for it, where can i get acetone?

i wonder ...if you actually took time to experiment...and were crazy/dumb enough... what gorilla glue would do to you if you glued yourself to yourself or an object.

Acetone can be found in any place that sells autobody supplies.... I usually picked it up at Canadian Tire here.

Yeah, there was a lot of research in Australia about using special kinds of superglue to hold wounds close until they naturally healed... they still used stitches on me though, and one got infected :( Stupid Dr refused to remove it, said it wasn't what was causing the problem, and weeping constantly for over a week was natural. Got a pair of tweezers and nail scissors and did it myself, next day the weeping stopped.
