Printer on LAN?

I used to be able to this with my old computer but it doesn't seem to be working and I don't remember how I did it last time. Is it possible to share a printer if the printer is hooked up to one computer and they're both hooked up to the same router? Thanks for any help.

of corse it is possible, go in printers click "share printert files" then it will work

Randomized, what version of Windows is on the host and on the computer that needs to access the shared printer? Do you have a filesharing network set up already?

To Glc both comps are on Windows 2000

where do I set that?

On each computer, open network and dialup connections. Right click on the local area connection, go to Properties. Make sure you have Client for Microsoft Networks, File and Print Sharing, and TCP/IP all checked. Make sure both computers are in the same workgroup (control panel, system, network identification). Either add a user to the local users to correspond with the login on the OTHER computer or enable the Guest account (right click My Computer, Manage, Local users and groups, users). In the Printers folder, right click on the printer to share, select Sharing, share it. On the other computer, open My Network Places, Entire network, Microsoft Windows network, (your workgroup name), (the name of the host computer), you will see the shared printer, right click, Connect.

Software firewalls must be disabled unless they are LAN-aware and configurable, or you must add the NetBEUI protocol to each computer to share through a firewall.
