hi. i have a new softv92 data fax 56k dialup modem . i noticed that the driver on the cd is dated 2003. do i need to update the modem driver?? is there a way to make it run faster?? is there any good free modem or net accelrating software,
and i tryed to look for a new driver for my modem or even a link to the manufactring company but i faild. even that i have the original cd but they didnt provide a link. thank you :D

Upgrading the drivers probably won't do you an ounce of good. Sorry dialup is just plain slow, there isn't much you can do about it. Most of those "accelerating" programs are just big advertisments, and you'll probably end up getting spyware/adware with some, slowing your connection even more. I remember when I had dialup I tried everything to speed it up, but nothing really worked. There are a few settings you can tweak, but it won't do much.

I know how you feel :) Do you not have high speed options in your area (that was my problem for a long time), or is it out of your budget?

lol. ya its that thing about having to live in a 5 kilometers area near any phone
central building and i live 40 kilometers aw from the city in a new satelment
and most of the gov buildings is not active yet.about budjet is crap man
can you imaging the phone billes i pay for the silly 56k internet service am having now is more expencive than than the fast dsl subscreption!!!! :mad:

The only way to speed up dialup is a hardware based modem to take the load off the CPU - and even that won't be very noticeable.
