Abit VT7 V2.0 motherboard, P4, 2.4 Ghz, 1Gig memory, Nivida Fx5200 video card,
Windowx XP Pro without SP2.

Having trouble with video display. Using the generic XP drivers, the display works but will only allow 800 x 600 resolution.

After I install the Nividia drivers which came with the card, on reboot, I get a screen whic says "Out of Frequency" with a countdown clock which starts at 25 seconds. At the count of 15 the system goes into a continuous reboot cycle. The only way I have found to get out of this condition is to turn the power off during one of the boot cycles which gets me to the windows screen for "Safe Mode", "Start Windows Normally", "Safe Mode with Command Prompt", etc. . Then do a system restore to the previous settings while in "Safe Mode".

If I install Windows SP2, the same thing happens with the "Out of Frequency" screen. The only difference being that when the system goes into it's reboot I get the "Safe Mode", "Safe Mode with Command Prompt", "Start Windows Normally", etc. screen.

Have been to the Nivida home page but they do not support any of thier video cards to end users.

Paid a lot of money for this card and would sure like to use it as 800 x 600 is not enough for todays applications.

Would sure appreciate any and all help.

Try booting into safe mode, then try to set the resolution that works with your monitor.

Same thing in "Safe Mode". Will not allow anything but 800 x 600 resolution.

Try the card in a friend's pc, that will tell you what you need to know.
