I finished my first build two weeks ago and just assumed the entire drive would be formatted (it's a 250gb maxtor). Anyways, apparently only 128 gb can be formatted at a time and the partition containing the system volume cannot be extended. Do I just make the remaining space another partition or is there any way to isolate the OS to 20 or 30 gb and then allot the remainder to everything else without reformatting? (I'm guessing this cannot be done)

Are you using the XP CD to do this? If so, and are formatting using NTFS, what you can do is create two partitions. Then use a third party utility like Partition Magic to merge the two partitions in together. Then download and install SP1 to allow the OS to register all 250GB of your harddrive capacity.

I have sp2 installed already. What I gather from your post is that I should make the 2nd partition and then use a program like partition magic to merge the two. Thanks for the help :) .
