I am looking for suggestions on Western Digital hdd's to be used in a Raid 0 setup. Anyone have any experience or suggestions on which ones to use in this configuration, besides the Raptors?

What size drives are you looking for?

Anything larger than the 74 Raptor.

Also make sure you understand the risks of running RAID 0 before you commit yourself to using it. When 1 drive starts to go bad you'll lose all you data that's spread out between the two drives.

Thx Cricket. Yes I understand the risks. This is for gaming only.

Since no one had any suggestions, what do you think about the WD Caviar RE 160GB. And why does WD say that "because of the time-limited error recovery feature, this product is intended for server applications and is not recommended for use in desktop systems".

That makes sense only on one account. Error correcting harddrives, like error correcting RAM is only recommended for servers because of the huge amounts of data that is pulled from the server at any given time. The statement doesn't make sense when it gets to the part that the "time-limited error recovery feature is intended for server applications". You need on-going error recovery for server applications, otherwise the application will just die.

Thx Gizmo. So would I encounter any problems using these drives in a Raid 0 configuration in a desktop?
