Use Palm as a Secondary monitor?

Is there any way I can use my palm as a second display in which I use the stylus to select things? I was thinking of useing it to control my music and display my music as a secondary monitor, is this possible? Would I have to program the code myself? I know BASIC, so I could probably pick up an be able to write a code to do this relatively quickly, but is it even possible, or is this something way to complicated?

I think it would be really cool to have my palm sitting next to me with just a list of all mu song and the ability to select artist and record and what-not.

If this is not possible is there any device that you know of that could do this, if so maybe wirelessly? I haven't ever heard anything like it, but it still would be pretty neat to have it as just a remote with a display and also the other functions of a palm without having to actually save the music files to the palm's memory, but use my computers harddrive to play back the music files.

Why dont you just buy some little cheapo 5" or 6" lcd, set it up as a second monitor, then just leave you iTunes, WMP or whatever you use open on it. I know little <8" lcd's with some kind of input exist. Or if you could find a little touch screen, that would be neat.

Yes i wanted to touch screen feature, but I cant run two monitors and sli at the same time I dont think. Plus with the palm i could buy the longest usb cord out there and be able to sit in my bed and control my music from it, that and the use of the stylus not a mouse are what I'm going for.

I just saw a program that lets me control winamp from my palm, do you think I could use this, or should I take a shot at programing my own?

Is it free or have a trial period?? If so, try it and if you don't like it then try it yourself

I think it was free, but that would mean I would also have to install winamp on my computer, and I really like windowsmedia player 10

You would have to program apps on both the computer and the Palm, and handle communication between the two. No disrespect intended at all, but the difference between knowing BASIC and programming two apps on two entirely different OSes is like the difference between knowing how to kick a ball and being Pelé.

Doing it yourself may be a project that is too big to handle. I do a fair bit of programming myself and I honestly wouldn't know where to start.

Thanks, that is exactly what I wanted to know, maybe what I want to do is just not possible, and honestly I do want to learn more programming, but if this is going to take months to complete by myelf then maybe I should rethink. I will keep browsing online to see if there is anything that suits my needs, and maybe pick up a book on programming apps for palms and take a shot at it.

Thanks for the sugestion, I have looked at remotes, but mostly I am interesting in having the display factor too as well as the options to adjust things. Palm has a software to do this for hometheater and what not with infared, do you think this would work on my computer?

Yes, you would need an infrared receiver. It should work, providing the software on the Palm is good.

Just a question, Is all infrared signal the same? I dont have to worry about buying a receiver and then find out it is for a tv remote control and doesnt work for my tv?
Also would using that software in a room with my computer and tv operate both at the same time lol? Like i go to turn up the volume and the tv volume goes up too?

Different brands use different infrared codes. They are not all the same. The good thing about a PC is you can assign any function to any code (with the right software). I don't know very much about PC infrared receivers but I have read about people doing just about anything.

The number of remote codes out there is staggering. That's why I bought a Harmony 688 (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16880100708). It literally controls everything due to it's learning capability and online database. It's like no other remote available.

I noticed that the one i was looking at said it works with handhelds, so I guess I should try it out.
