I'm pretty sure all mobile phones use SIM cards! are you sure the slot is not hidden?
Maybe try downloading the phone's manual and find the sim-insertion instructions.

sometimes, it is hidden behind the battery, but I am no expert.

Its actually covered withing the 'tape like thing' around my battery.. so you cant access it; might be like that on yours.

Thats not correct. I'm a long time Sprint customer and they've never used SIM cards.

I don't believe this phone has a sim slot...

You're probably right here - I was going by the fact that I've never seen a phone in the UK that doesn't use a SIM card. All UK networks use them, and wasn't aware that there was an alternative.

Sim cards are fairly new in America, i think only Cingular and T-mobile use them but i'm not sure. What kind of phone did you buy? Older phones wouldn't have a slot but most newer ones should.

Actually I'm getting conflicting info about the fone. The same model sold in the US is a GSM fone, which means that it has a SIM slot; but there seems to be a similar fone in S.America that is a CDMA which means that it is not GSM network compatible hence no SIM slot.
Actually I cannot verify the GSM version of the fone from the motorola website, I can only get the CDMA/AMPS version from here: http://www.motorola.com/ve/pcs/productos/c331car.html
Addendum:
This is one that I found listing the C331 as GSM: http://mobile.softpedia.com/phones/Motorola/Motorola-C331.shtml ; of course this could just be a typo

Again, it's not necessary .. newer fones that are not meant to be on a GSM network do not have SIM cards. There are a few providers in N.America that have GSM networks. Cingular & TMobile are two of them.
Addendum:
There apparently was a C331 sold by Cingular on a GSM 850/1900 dualband as well as a TDMA 800/1900+AMPS version sold by them as well, which is weird! Anyways it looks like you're sitting with the TDMA version of it. source: http://www.howardchui.com/modules.php?name=Sections&op=viewarticle&artid=103

i am going to call cingular and see if they can switch it over. but if it is TDMA i may notbe able to use it since im using a GSM network. so hopefully it is a GSM. thanx
