Hi
So have i got this right; New 160GB harddrive install and Partition into 3 drives eg; c:50GB d:55GB e:55GB and set raid 0....
what about my sata dvd\rw how does that work
i've got a gigabyte GA-7N400pro m\brd \ CPU AMD ALTHON 2800+

If i could also ask a question about hard drives which is i've got a maxtor 160GB sata 8MB Cache and want to get a maxtor 200GB sata 16MB Cache is this ok or is it best to get the same spec H\D and set at raid 0
Any advice is welcomed

To use RAID 0, the drives should be *identical*. Why do you want to use RAID? I'd just add the second drive as an additional standalone drive.

Just plug the SATA DVD-RW into an available SATA connector.

ok thanks and i don't know why i want raid only that i though it was more efficient transfer of data and the fact that i have never used raid and thought it was time to have a go while i'm updating eveything else but how will i interface the standalone{back-up drive) to IDE yes

If it's a SATA drive, connect it to SATA, if it's IDE, connect it to IDE. Set the controllers appropriately in the bios and set the boot order accordingly. Normally, to use a standalone (non-RAID) SATA drive, the SATA controller needs to be set to IDE mode, as does the IDE controller if it's also RAID-capable. Terminology will differ with different bioses.
