Im trying to install windows xp on a hard drive. now the computer im trying to install it on lets me format it, then when it goes to install the windows files a screen comes on saying that there was an error, this happens every time i try this on the PC. Now to make sure the hard drive was not damaged , i installed windows on it on a different PC, that worked fine. so i went back to the other computer and tried it again and it keeps saying error, What am i doing wrong, maybe i dont have the hard drive connected the right way, i dunno, but one of the errors said something like the "RCQL was not less or equal" or something like that.....Im not sure if those are the correct letters
installing XP in one computer then moving the hard drive to another is bad news(i tried doing this with a comp that wouldnt boot from CD)
The setup recognizes the hardware of the computer it was designed for what i would recomend is now that winxp works on the HD and u know its ok is to insert the XP CD into the new comp, and make an MSDOS boot disk and boot to the CD or MSDOS and try installing again

I think you mean IRQL error on install and we could help more if you'd give us the whole error message.
With an install it's usually a hardware problem unless you forgot to disable the boot virus protection before you started ( check for that before you do anything else).
Memory is first on the list so download and run memtest for a start : http://www.memtest.org/
For a good overview read this : http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;314063
Install with no USB devices, card readers, or any other peripherals connected, and disconnect all drives except the CD drive you are installing with and the hard drive you are trying to install to. Remove all expansion cards except the video card. Test your ram with memtest86+.
