I was reading the user reviews, and there are a few that say this hd has died on people after a month or so...which obviously worries me. However, when I look at the reviews for other hd's from other makers, it seems there's always a handful of people saying the same thing. I guess it's just a hit or miss kind of thing sometimes.

So I was just wondering if any of the experts around her have had personal experience with these drives, and if you'd give it a "thumbs up" or not.

Thanks a lot.

Any hard drive from any manufacturer can die prematurely, that's just how it is.

That Seagate HDD is a good one plus they give you a 5 year warranty.

It’s a good drive and that is a very good deal, I have the 120 GB version of that same drive. I really like it, its fast and very quiet (you can only hear it if you are really close to the computer, there is no background noise and you listen for it while it is reading/writing). It also has a 5 year warranty, no manufacturer is perfect and there is always the chance of getting a bad drive, but with a company like Seagate that chance is small.
