how much better is an X600SE 128mb + 128 borrowed, than a GeForce4 440 go 64mb? Also what shader model compatibility does athe X600 have?
The X600 is new technology. The GF4 is 2 generations older.

I actually looked into that when trying to decide on a laptop. The x700 is included on specific dells I believe (probably others too, I can't remember at the moment). I read a bunch of reviews on laptops with it included and they said it could run the Sims 2 on low settings fairly easily. I wouldn't expect games like Doom III to work very well on any laptop, especially the x700. You never know though - I used to get AOE II to run superbly on my old Pentium I 96 mb ram laptop.
In comparison, my friend has a 6800 Go in his new Dell 9300 and he says it runs Doom III without a hitch - he also has a 1 gig and a quarter (1,245 mb) of ram though. For some reason he can't get Battlefield 2 to install on it, which is a bit odd.

This is essentially my laptop - when I bought mine Circuit City only carried one model very similar to this one - only difference is I have 60 gigs of HD opposed to that one with 80 gigs. (mine is like the 2310 opposed to that 2410). I believe the integrated graphics is the same in mine - I'll check when I get home. If it's different then my specs will only be lower than that one, and I know on mine I can play the Sims 2 fine at all low settings. (Though I definately prefer playing it on my desktop :)).
A gaming laptop is not going to touch a desktop in the gaming department.
I like my laptop a lot except for the battery consumption. I can drain a full battery in an hour and a half - and that's if i'm lucky. That thing is a beast when running off the power cord, and I'm the idiot who didn't consider battery life to be that big of an issue when buying it - I thought the other components outweighed that one disadvantage - psh.
The X700 is the next step up from the X600.
