Just curious. I now have dial-up. Verizon is offering a DSL package that is
768 Kbps / 128 Kbps for 14.95 a month. Is this worth the $15 bucks? Does anyone have this slow of a DSL connection?

That is a prety good price for that speed - I pay triple that and don't get much better speeds. 1024 / 128 for me.
You will love it - for a while - then you will want more. Look at their higher speed plans and pricing before you make a decision.

Well when I do the verizon on-line dsl test for my phone number, it only comes up with the $14.95 768 Kbps / 128 Kbps package. Looks like that's the speed I get out where I'm at.
I tried different numbers in different areas and I got different packages. Just did that to see if I got different results for different locations.
Looks like it's $14.95 for me.
Thanks for the replies.
You are probably too far from the switch to get any faster. The only way you are gonna go faster out there is with cable. For that price, 768 is a steal though.

That's what I was thinking. Ordered it this morning.
What's nice is that after the first year, it stays at $14.95/month. I expected it to go up.

Ok, so with a 768 connection, can I expect downloads speeds at least at 50KBps? I hope so.

At the very least. I have Direcway Satellite DSL 500x50. my download speeds have been any were from 60k to upwards of 200k.
Only problem I have is that this stuff is $69.95 and I can't get normal DSL.

Well, I was thinking that a downstream 768Kbps (bits) connection will give me an ideal max of 96KBps (bytes) download speed. I would be happy with anything over 50KBps (bytes).
When my DSL was still 768/128, my downloads were a solid 82k. You will never see the theoretical max due to PPPoE and TCP/IP overhead, you lose about 15%. My current 1536/320 is a solid 163k.
