View Full Version : cant play dvd any more, now shows 4 dvd drives
i believe this happened after i did a major system upgrade, and had to repair windows xp because of all the hardware changes and ever since im unable to watch dvds, and now theres 4 dvd drives, one physical and 3 virtual, im thinking thats why, so how can i undo the virtual ones? i tried uninstalling them in device mgr but after restart XP reinstalls the 3 other drives....
The virtual drives were installed with some software you installed - such as Daemon Tools or Alcohol 120%. You have to uninstall that software to remove the virtual drives.
ok got that taken care of...
still cant play dvd movies tho,
You need to install DVD playing software now.
riiiiight.......i know its always good to state the obvious to get it out of the way, so now that the obvious is out of the way....what else...
ive had dvd playing software, ive used it before, and after what happend (what i mentioned in the original post) ive reinstalled the software, still wont play, the splash screen of the software pops up for about 10 seconds then disappears but nothing happens after that (when its supposed to play the movie)
What software is it? Have you tried completely uninstalling and reinstalling it?
Are your IDE controllers all running in DMA mode? If any are PIO Only, that can cause problems.
