Hi.. actuly i didnt know were to post this but since its about power suplly and the power unit is in the case so here is the question lol :
i have a new INFOSEC 500 XP UPS (Line Interactive technology)...actuly i live in a place with very bad power sutch as storms and and surges and unstable voltage...
well for somtimes every thing was normal and the ups did bloack some power cuts and kept my pc up and runing... but yesterday we had a very bad storm and the power was cutting so bad and then i hurd a beep out of the ups and the green lights started to flash.... then my pc restarted ....!! then few hours later i had 2 bypass alert messages from the ups then the ups made another beep and my pc restarted again..... 2 times in 1 night... well the battary is full and every thing is normal.... is that ok to happen? i mean can the ups make mistakes somtimes or get out of order for a moment? or there is somthing rong with my ups ???

If it is working good now than it is probably OK and it sounds like it did it's job and protected your PC from the storm..

well here is somthing to learn for evryone about some kinds of line interactive
ups s .. i ve been emailling the infosec tech sector and they give me this reply:
having a ups device dose not mean 100% protection from power problems
u would still have some mild chance that the ups will be out of order Momentally as the power problems is taking place... and that is because
the battary will fail to supply the pc with backup power at the right speed
and in this case the ups would bypass the power directly from the ac to the
pc .
so i guess what they mean at a bad time when the power bugs is coming at
massive frequency like in my case u have 5% chance that some of those
bugs will hit the pc and forcing a restart.....!

I used to live in an area with very bad power.
During a particularly bad storm one day my machine died. I narrowed it down to my PSU, fried.
During the course of a few weeks strange things started happening, mainly full screen freeze forcing me to manual reset, upon reboot i had to do error checks which uncovered massive numbers of errors.
Turns out the screen freezes were due to my GFX being fried and the errors were due to a frazzled master HDD, i have since replaced these and im still being haunted, somethings still wrong, my graphics card wont respond to graphical commands and CTD on anything more complex than Tetris, ive narrowed it down to the motherboard.
So in one bad storm i lost a PSU, HDD, GFX and MOBO, and i had a heavy duty surge protector in place :| i hate to think what could have happened had it not been there.

lol. ok i know what you mean..things can get wierd..
today the power went off when my pc was idle...so the pc was on ups back up for few secounds and the monitor was turned off on power saving mode..
then i tryed to turn on the monitor to complete the shotting down of my pc
and at this moment the pc hanged .. there was power in the pc but the screen
didnt start and the pc starting to over heat so fast i could smell it...
strange isnt it. then i turned evrything off untill the power went back and
it starting to work again.. i think my usp become very unstable in the case
when the battary is in charge.
but i wounder now from were all that extra heatiing came from!!!!

Since you smelled something, it would be a good idea to take a good look at your components to see if you can spot any damage.
