hey there. I installed a new IDE HDD to replace my SATA drive (use it for backup) so i have windows installed on my IDE and i have it as a master, and the SATA as a slave (no jumper). During boot both HDD's are found by the BIOS, but when i get to the "my computer" it does not see the SATA drive. Any ideas?
I don't want to format the SATA drive cause it has all my old files on it that i want to transfer to my new drive.
Thank you.

If you go into Disk Management, is the SATA HDD shown?

Do not remove the factory installed jumper from a SATA drive. Put it back where it was. There is no master/slave with SATA.

ok, i will put it back. I did however get it fixed...turns out with the new install of XP on my other drive, it didn't have some of my motherboard drivers installed including a RAID driver...after installing it everything works fine. Thank you guys, you have both been helpful as usual.

sorry to hijack thread but
My computer wont reconignize my SATA drive at all. It I get an EIDI hdd as my main one, install my RAID drivers, can I use the SATA one as a second one.
I would be fine if my raid drivers would install like normal
Why did you hijack the thread instead of starting your own?
