Video Card upgrade problems

Hi, I'm planning to upgrade to a PCI x16 card from my onboard graphic. Since it is onboard and not already in a slot, how will I remove it?

You disable onboard video in your BIOS at startup. There will be an option to disable it.

Nope - can't remove integrated graphics. The onboard graphics will stay on the motherboard but won't be used, while your graphics will come from the PCI-E slot card.

Hi, I'm planning to upgrade to a PCI x16 card from my onboard graphic. Many PC's that have the IGP (Integrated Graphics Processor) on them do not have a "dedicated" video slot. There was one such until a year ago; its name was AGP (Accellerated Graphics Processor). The PCI-e was new somewhat more than a year ago.

Once upon a time, video cards shared the same busses as other add-on cards, in ISA and PCI slots. The old PCI slot is not compatible with the new PCI-e. Have you made certain regarding your own PC's slots?

Yes, I have a PCI-E slot and am buying a PCI-E card.

you should be able to disable or uninstall it from My Computer/Properties/Hardware/Device Manager then click on Video/Graphics Devices

look at the top on the window and you'll see buttons to Disable or Uninstall the device. Either should do the trick...
