DVI to DVI cable?

I need to get a DVI cable to connect my pc to an LCD TV. I'm unsure which type of DVI cable to buy. DVI-I or DVI-D, how can tell which type I need?

You'll probably want DVI-D. I think most of your connectors (on the TV and video card) are DVI-I. DVI-I supports both DVI-D and DVI-A, but I doubt you'll find much that is DVI-A.

You need a DVI-D cable.

Even if both connections are DVI-I, you'd still want a DVI-D cable.

Something I forgot: If both connectors are DVI-I, then both DVI-I and DVI-D cables will work (as the digital part is identical on both). So if that's the case, get the cheaper cable.

Well I'm looking at the DVI cable that came with my other NEC LCD monitor and it has a block of pins missing on both ends. So that's a DVI single link? That was an expensive monitor?? Are they cheap cables?

I would like to know this also. I purchased the Samsung 204B yesterday. Is there a better cable?

If there is a block missing on both ends, then yes, the cable is single link.

But don't worry. Dual link does not affect quality at all. It just allows higher resolutions.
For regular PC monitors, there is no need for dual link, as you can use the native resolution with single link.

Dual link is needed for the big apple screen, for example.
