Anybody that want to tell me their opinion, ive got a new graphic card here from directron.com. But once in a while my monitor just goes black and i have to restart to get it to come back up. It's either my power supply or my graphic card, im thinking more to the power supply but i just wanted to see what somebody elses opinion also. Its happening more and more use to be maybe once a day now it did it twice today, im thinking its the power supply but im not sure, if it is anybody know a good place to get a nice 500 watt power supply, i got a 500 watt power supply in it now but it was cheap and prob not that great. Or do ya think i should send card back for a replacement?
Thanks.

Post your full specs of your PC, including make/brand of all known parts. Is this a homebuilt PC or a factory build?

Hello, i have 2 comps, one is home built and i have one factor built computer, though i do prefer home built over factory this is the factory built computer. The graphic card is a Geforce 6600 256MB DDR Dual Dvi Tv, 1GB Ram, AMD Athlon XP 2800, 2.08 GHz. This computer was bought from HP. But the powersupply and the video card is upgrades not factory items.

Just a thought here before you go replacing power supplies and video cards.....are you sure the monitor itself is good? I ask this because my monitor goes black every now and then too. Granted, it only stays off for a second or two, but I figure as the monitor's internal problem gets worse then likely so will the amount of time it stays black. If you haven't done it already, you might try hooking up another monitor to that machine and see if it still does it. That'll at least rule out the monitor as the problem.

I am having the same problem! I can minimize the times this happens by screwing around with my refresh rates, but this shouldnt happen at all, all we want is a stable computer!

Im pretty sure its not my monitor being that i had a 5700LE nvidia graphic card in there before this and it never did this, so there it goes back to the power supply and the video card, being 6600 draws more power or its a defect.

Possibly. Have you tried downloading the latest drivers for the 6600? And if those aren't solving the problem, have you tried some of the older drivers for it? I had an nVidia card awhile back that wouldn't run on the newest driver update and it would make the screen black out for a couple seconds when trying to scroll down the page. I had to go get one of the older versions of the driver for it to work right. Not saying that's absolutely it, just that you might want to try some of these non-cost things before you delve money into different hardware.

I will try that, i have the latest drivers may try a older version of the drivers, but it isnt like it just goes black for a couple of seconds it stays black until i restart my computer.
